Brass Bands in York
There are many brass bands in the York area, varying from training bands to full contesting bands. Summer concerts are held throughout the city of York and surrounding areas and it is a regular occurrence to see a concert in the city centre. Christmas concerts are also quite common with Bands playing at the railway station creating a festive welcome to York.
The York RI Golden Rail is a non contesting, friendly brass band that are based at the Railway Institute on Queen Street. We welcome players of all ages and abilities and can offer tuition, if required. Instruments are provided by the band as well as full uniform.
The Railway Institute also has a full contesting band, the York RI Band, competing in the Third Section in the Northern Area of the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain. They are always looking for new members to join them as well.
